Lina Costa presents SOUND Control at the 12th Jornadas Hospital Veterinario Muralha de Evora 1

On the 6th of March 2020, Lina Costa, member of our COST Action, presented the SOUND control project to a large audience of specialists at the 12th Jornadas Hospital Veterinario Muralha de Evora. Her presentation was called “Health surveillance in non-regulated bovine diseases in the EU, a harmonised and results-based approach (SOUND-Control)“.

Abstract in English:

The EU has an active animal health policy and supports member states in the eradication, control and monitoring of certain animal diseases (group A and B diseases). However, other important diseases are not under this official policy (mainly groups C and D). Several countries have implemented voluntary programmes to control unregulated bovine diseases (e.g. IBR and BVD), making it difficult to compare disease-free status in animals originating from different countries. The European SOUND control project aims to stimulate initiatives to harmonise the results of programmes to control unregulated bovine diseases from different regions and countries. This will allow the comparison of health status between different regions (safe market/animal transit), the effectiveness of the different control programmes and the comparison of their cost-benefit.

Presentation in Portuguese can be found here.
